A FAIRYTALE

Mrs. Average and the Benign Doctor
Doctor

Once upon a time there was a fairly sick lady.  She had been feeling ill for a long time, not knowing for ages what her ailment was and doubting herself a lot, as all the doctors she had consulted tried to make her think, all her pain was nothing but psychosomatic.  “You need to see a psychiatrist”, was a frequent comment.  She was at her wit’s end when through pure chance and a total fluke she heard of the letters LDN.

Not knowing what this was, she enquired and lo and behold found one doctor who didn’t think that her illness was only in her head.  The doctor made her aware of not just her own illness but of many she had heard about but didn’t know what they were and the nice doctor told her that these were all autoimmune diseases and that there were millions of people suffering from one of these.  At last she got a name for her own terrible condition.  The doctor diagnosed her with Rheumatoid Arthritis and said that he knew just the drug to combat it.  That’s when she learned a lot about LDN and that it stood for low dose naltrexone.  She learned that it was safe, generic and inexpensive.  And he was going to prescribe it to her.  A benign doctor, who wants to help his patient – is that a fairytale?

The reality

Our doctors don’t know about LDN, don’t prescribe it and don’t help their patients with this little known phenomenal cheap and safe drug, unless the government funds trials and gives LDN the chance of becoming a first line treatment for many incurable chronic conditions.
